Semaglutide, also known as Ozempic or Wegovy, is a glucagon agonist. Glucagon is a hormone that your body already produces and is responsible for the breakdown of glycogen into glucose. Semaglutide works by increasing your insulin production and decreasing glucagon production, resulting in glucose being converted to energy rather than glucose being stored as fat. Overall, Semaglutide stabilizes blood sugar levels while simultaneously acting on receptors in the body to decrease appetite and slow GI motility, leaving you feeling fuller for longer.

Once your consent is signed and your health history is reviewed, your medication order will be placed. Normal processing and shipping is 7-10 days and you will receive a UPS tracking number once it ships. This gives you time to get comfortable with our program, review our education materials, and schedule your first check-in with our healthcare professionals before your package is delivered to your front door.

Once your health history is reviewed, you will follow a recommended dosing guide that is effective in that it gives your body time to adjust, minimizes side effects, while also effectively starting the weight-loss process.

The most common side effects patients experience with Semaglutide are nausea, diarrhea, headache, and fatigue and usually subside within 2-3 weeks. We work with clients to aid side effects with nutritional recommendations, supplementation, and zofran as needed.

Most people begin seeing results within the first couple weeks, which is really exciting! Typically, clients start to notice a real difference around weeks 4 or 5, when the body starts to adjust and blood sugar levels begin to stabilize.

We typically recommend that clients stay on Semaglutide for a minimum of 3-4 months to ensure optimal results. However, because everyone’s weight loss goals look different, some clients may need to stay on the medication for 10-12 months. Although Semaglutide is available in oral form, research shows that it is most effective when administered as a subcutaneous injection. You will inject your weekly prescribed dosage once a week. As our client, we offer educational videos and office hour visits to help you every step of the way!

Semaglutide is not recommended for those with a history of thyroid cancer,  type-1 diabetes, history or pancreatitis, people who are pregnant, or if on other blood sugar-lowering medications.

While the FDA approved this medication for long-term weight management in adolescents in January of 2023, we are currently only working with clients ages 18 years and older.
